The E610F Promise 16 750GB Fiber VTRAK HDD is a high-performance, enterprise-grade hard drive designed for data storage and backup applications. This 16-bay enclosure features 750GB 10GbE SAS 3.0 HDDs, offering a total raw capacity of 12TB.
The VTRAK HDD is equipped with Promise's proprietary VTRAK technology, which optimizes drive performance for maximum throughput and reduced latency. This results in faster data transfer rates, making it ideal for applications that require real-time access to large volumes of data, such as video editing, broadcasting, and high-end gaming.
The enclosure supports dual active controllers for redundancy and improved reliability. If one controller fails, the other takes over without any interruption in service. It also comes with built-in RAID support, allowing you to choose from various RAID levels (0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60) to best suit your data protection needs.
The E610F VTRAK HDD is designed with a robust, all-aluminum chassis that provides excellent heat dissipation and protection against environmental factors. It also features tool-less drive installation, making it easy to upgrade or replace drives as needed.
In addition, the enclosure supports 10GbE SAS connectivity, which provides faster data transfer rates than traditional SAS or SATA interfaces. This makes it well-suited for high-bandwidth applications that require low-latency data transfer.
Overall, the E610F Promise 16 750GB Fiber VTRAK HDD is a high-performance, reliable, and scalable storage solution for businesses and organizations that require fast and secure data access. Its advanced features and robust design make it an excellent choice for a wide range of applications, from video editing and broadcasting to high-end gaming and data backup.

2. Noitceably Loud: HDDs, in general, tend to produce noise, and the Promise E610F VTRAK HDD is no exception. This noise can be noticeable in quiet environments or when the drive is under heavy load.
3. Not Suitable for Mobile Use: Due to its size and weight, the E610F VTRAK HDD is not suitable for portable or mobile use, as it requires an external enclosure.
Conclusion:If you require a large storage capacity, need fast data transfer rates, and prioritize reliability, the Promise 16TB E610F VTRAK HDD is an excellent choice. However, the high price and audible noise may be a concern for some buyers. Consider your specific needs and budget before making a decision.
Recommendation:If the high price is a concern, you might want to consider other HDDs with similar capacities that offer more affordable options. If noise is an issue, you may also want to explore SSDs, which are generally quieter and faster than HDDs but come with a higher price tag. Ultimately, choose the storage solution that best fits your requirements and budget.
I do not have original power cables though. I have never used the second controller as I only connected to controller a dual port.
G red hat 4 and such. It has qty 16 x 750 hdd sea gate satay. I had this connected in a fiber channel domain with e200 brocade fc switches. Not part of the deal but worth to mention I may have the molded SPF cables for connectivity.
I may have extra hdd and caddies. You can tell by the serial number what the compatibility is and also the firmware supported.
It is fiber channel connectivity with 2 controllers. I do know that some of these arrays were made to be compatible with mac x server but would be able to serve storage to other OS e.
